Kieanna's funeral expense

Donation protected
Kieanna Zelaya (KK) was born with a heart condition known as Transposition of the Great Arteries, a condition in which the two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed (transposed). It changes the way blood circulates through the body, leaving a shortage of oxygen in blood flowing from the heart to the rest of the body. Without an adequate supply of oxygen-rich blood, the body can't function properly and a person can face serious complications or death without treatment.
At the age of 2 and another 5 months subsequent, Kieanna underwent corrective surgery which was successful. At the age of 10, Kieanna started having symptoms of failure to her arteries and started treatment that will allow her to live her everyday life. As time went on, her heart condition began to deteriorate and her doctors started the process of getting her on the heart transplant list. It was a long process to get her to qualify for the list but she finally made it on in May of this year and was placed in A1 status, which is top priority because of her far gone heart condition and the fact that she was in the ICU.

Kieanna fought a good fight. Her time in the hospital was frustrating, it was her home for months, but she kept her sense of humor and her spunky attitude with her up until the day she couldn’t speak anymore.

On Saturday August 20th after many attempts to prolong Kieanna’s life, the cardiology team, after unsuccessfully attempting to perform dialysis, made the decision to remove Kieanna from the transplant list, as her organs were failing and she was too weak to undergo any type of surgery.

It was the worse news our family could have received after years of fighting to get her on that list.

On August 23rd at 7:05pm, surrounding by her parents, siblings and family, KK took her last breath. Throughout this journey we always though KK would get a heart. It was heart wrenching to watch a 16 year old fighter go.

Kieanna’s family is now humbly asking for your assistance in her funeral arrangements. The family having to travel internationally to be with her in June and had to return asap on her doctors request, has accumulated great expense.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank for your patronage in advance.
Grateful to everyone who contributed, Kieanna's aunt and guardian Pauline Lewis
