Education for Ethnic Minority Kids

€10,015 of €15,000 goal

Raised by 25 people in 50 months
Hi friends! First of all - thanks so much for all the support provided already! As you may remember, the original campaign had a budget of US$ 40.000 to support the education of ethnic minority kids in north-western Myanmar (see also: www.kidsinmyanmar.com and www.facebook.com/kidsinmyanmar).
Together with my own matching funds (50% for each donation received), you helped raise US$ 22.500 already! I withdrew the funds and we started building the school. As you can see from the website, we´ll do a lot more things besides the building.
By early February every donor will receive a detailed account of the use of the funds so far, plus regular updates.
However, the site hosting organization told me I have to use a Euro account - so after withdrawing the donated funds, the previous campaign was closed.
This current campaign aims at raising the funds which are still missing - roughly 15.000 Euro.  Again, I will match each donation with 50%. Please contact me if you are interested to invest into the lives of these precious kids, ask any question you want and share the information with your friends.

Dear friends of Blossom!
It has been a long time... but my silence doesn't mean the work stopped. The contrary is true, Blossom is alive and growing and reaching out to even more children from rural areas of Western Myanmar. As usual, I spent again part of my leave there last March, the memories and impressions are still very fresh. Though short, it has been a very good time once gain. I as accompanied by three other volunteers: One from Germany and a couple from Malaysia: An experienced Montessori teacher trainer and her husband. Yes - we trained our local nursery teachers in Montessori pedagogy, and brough some special material; The aim is not to become a certified Montessori Kindergarden, but to start including Montessori principles into the pedagogical work of our nursery teachers. We now have 45 registered kids who get taught and also get a meal. Apart from this, we celebrated the graduation of our first nursery "graduates", pls see pictures attached. It was a lovely and wonderful event. We also took our Blossom orphanage kids to the market, to a boat ride and a picnic, and had the opportunity to address a group of more than a hundred kids attending an english summer school. So your generous contributions were very well invested indeed. The nursery is almost fully self financed, and in addition we create jobs and local income. The orphanage continues to depend on external support, and some repair and maintenance works are pending. By and large e're fine, but just in case you were about to decide where to make your next donation.. we won't say no., as the roof, the floor, the nursery and transportation for the nursery kids as well as education support for the orphanage kids deserve some further investment. Enjoy the pics and if you have any further question don't hesitate to contact me!

Dear all, you have not heard from me for quite a while, sorry! This is not a request for funds.. I just wanted to send you an update. As some of you know, I returned to Tahan again this spring. Together with a volunteer from Australia, we spent time with our Blossom kids, with the nursery and with friends in town. We taught English, raised awareness on human trafficking and taught the nursery teachers. Today I had a phone conversation with Puii, the lady who "runs the show" there. She told me they now have >30 kids in the nursery and targeting 40 or more. I was very happy about these news. On the one hand, we make perfect use of the space which all of you helped build in 2015. In addition, pre-primary education is crucial for the kids, in particular as they are from a marginalized minority, with otherwise much less chances to have a good education. So I wanted to share with you my joy and satisfaction about this endeavour all of you are part of... thanks again!
