Help Continue the Legacy of the “Kids Free Trip to Africa”
Youth in underserved communities are often unable to travel to foreign lands due to various barriers. The typical household in the Muskegon Heights earns just $25,411 a year, less than half the median across the U.S. as a whole of $57,652.
For the past three years, the West Michigan Community Help Network, a nonprofit organization, has fundraised tirelessly because they remain committed to providing an enriching, amazing, educational, culturally-enriching experience for high school honor students who reside in the urban core of Muskegon County to travel to Ghana, West Africa.
ABSOLUTELY FREE.
But we need your help.
Studies show that there are countless benefits that traveling gives young people: It pushes educational boundaries, broadens horizons, helps to overcome language barriers, creates cultural sensitivity, and fosters independence and empowerment.
Expenses include travel (airline tickets at $1,850 each), hotel ($500/person), food ($125/person), ground transportation ($150/person), passports ($145 each), Visa ($100 each), and medical preparation (shots, etc. at $250 each).
We are committed to providing this incredible, life changing experience for our area youth. To date, 18 have made this phenomenal journey to the Motherland and with your help, this legacy of cultural travel will continue.
Your gifts will be used to directly fund the students selected for the June 2019 trip: Donovan Daniels, Tyrone Hardmon, Airianna Hopson, Amilya Locke, E’Nire’Ion McBride, and Tamila Phillips.
