Brand New Mambo-a new kid red cd
Donation protected
Hi. Welcome to the launch of the kid red new cd initiative. In 2004 I went into Word of Mouth recording studio in Algiers, just across the muddy Mississippi from the New Orleans' French Quarter.
I recorded a song called Brand New Mambo written by the late, great Lenny McDaniel. He had not only encouraged me to record this song from his The Blue Side album, but he played piano on the cut as well.
In a still mind boggling turn of events I was able to persuade George Porter, Jr of the Meters to play on the cut as well. Rounding out the lineup were keyboardist extraordinaire Wayne Lohr on the Hammond B3 and Steve Reichlen on the drums.
Before I could get it mixed and released, however, Hurricane Katrina came along and turned things upside down to say the least.
Fast forward to 2017. Beth Patterson has begun mixing the cd and I went to New Orleans over the first weekend of Jazzfest and finished the vocal and guitar parts.
Now Beth and I will start work on the rest of the new cd. The album will feature my own compositions along with songs I co-wrote with a couple of other people. It will also include songs by Carolyn Wonderland, Amzie Adams and Paul Sanchez.
I expect that the project will proceed as quickly as I am able to raise funds, be it through handyman work, house and pet sitting, playing gigs and most importantly the support of the people I’ve reached in 30 or 40 years singing and playing up and down the gulf coast.
My goal is to have the whole thing finished by the fall. For this to work I will need the support of you, my friends and fans, donating to this campaign.
thank you. namaste. peace.
