           "Eddie Our Little Warrior"

For the last 23 months we have been struggling with our son's chronic kidney disease . Our son was diagnosed with only one small partially functioning kidney at the age of 4 months old. We were first referred to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles at the end of May 2014 with colic and eating/feeding problems. Never in our wildest dreams did we even suspecting that our little Eddie was surviving on only 15% renal function. We left the hospital 17 days later, with our baby being fed through a gastric tube and pump which have helped us to this day achieve some stability in growth and development for our son.

At 10 months old Eddie had to go on daily treatments of dialysis, we still have eating/food problems, as Eddie currently is only able to tolerate a very special formula, which we prepare, on a continuous 24 hours feeding cycle. Currently our biggest dream is that our child has a life as close to healthy and normal as possible. We hope to achieve this via a kidney transplant. Eddie was officially placed on the National Transplant list about 9 months ago, but we have not received a notification at this time of a possible match. In April of this year, 2016, we were made aware, by our transplant coordinators at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, that in the previous year there had been a change to some of the parameters for patients awaiting a donor organ on the National List. A slight change in the priority rankings of patients has seemingly doubled the average waiting time for children on the List. So our estimated wait time of one and a half years has now become an estimate of hopefully under three years... This was an unintended consequence and as such will take some time to sort through devise a alternative, which translates to: it will take some time to sort out and change if it can be changed.

Another option we are exploring is what is called a Living Donor, but both of us (his mother and father) have been disqualified due to compatibility requirements. We have taken to social media and advertising on our car for another possible living donor, but have not had an luck as of yet... We want people to know that organ donation is a very important issue. If you can do it, genuinely consider it.

As parents we will do what ever it takes to help our son grow and thrive. With the help of our faith, family and friends we have and will muster the strength to constantly move forward in providing our son with a happy, health and full life. We are opening this account seeking financial assistance/support for the long and ongoing road ahead of us: continued medical expenses, medications, medical supplies, current daily dialysis equipment/supplies and handling the unexpected complications that come with the day to day living with Chronic Kidney Disease.

We appreciate every last bit of assistance, help, thoughts, prayers and support.

Our son is a precious gift from God and we will do all that is in our power to continue to grow, protect and nurture that gift.

All our love and thanks ...
Dad, Mom and
Eddie

Eddie
