Boy aged 10 Kidney Transplant Medical Fundraising

It is never easy to watch someone go through a medical challenge, but when that is child, it becomes extremely disturbing and when he is your son it is pure torture. Onyedikachukwu is my boy, aged ten. He and his twin brother are the first of four children. He is a fighter, but every day he wakes up to a new struggle, diseases ravaging his body and threatening his priceless life. Caring for him, it takes all my strength not to break down crying – and sometimes, I think that much of my strength is not really my own but his strength. He is currently being managed for End Stage Renal Disease, residual hypertension and elevated serum cretinine.

Renal ultrasound showed shrunk kidney with hyper-echogenicity and complete loss of contimedullary differentiation of both kidney, right kidney measuring 7.5 x 1.7cm and left 5.3 x 2.0cm. Onyekachi is currently on chronic hemodialysis treatment and has had 121 dialysis with a long-term plan of renal transplant. That brings us to the situation at hand. This boy is desperately in need of a kidney transplant in Abuja Nigeria, and all-told, the procedure will cost Eight Million Naira, which is equivalent to Twenty thousand pounds. This is a massive amount for anyone, and because of the challenge this 10-year-old boy and his family is facing, it is an amount that seems impossible to come up with. “None of us, including me ever do great things.
