Kicking Cancer with Colin

Donation protected
Hi everyone! Meet Colin.  He is a genuinely  kind, fun loving, very intelligent, autistic 10 year old. He is an amazing soccer player, who loves Roblox, Disney,  his pets, chicken nuggets and Sloths! He has also been our son's best friend since kindergarten. We have tried to keep Ben and Colin together in the classroom and on the same soccer teams because they get each other perfectly and quiet frankly, we just love the Hoaglan family!

Treena and Shawn are amazing parents and friends. They are the type of parents people strive to be; patient, kind, loving, and generous. Over the years as they have educated themselves to ensure they give Colin all the necessary tools to be successful in anything and everything that he wants to do. We have watched them gracefully help Colin with overcoming obstacles he has faced. Unfortunately the Hoaglan family has their biggest obstacle yet.

In September Colin wasn’t feeling 100% well. After listening to him and noticing odd symptoms his parents scheduled an appointment with their pediatrician. From the office they were sent to the emergency room where they figured out he had strep throat but that was the least of their concerns. After an MRI and a CT scan they found a golf ball size mass on his brain.

He was immediately scheduled for surgery where they were able to remove the entire mass. Shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with a type of brain cancer called Medulloblastoma. Since then they  were informed that the mass was caught as early as possible (i.e., Stage 0) but it is a grade 4 tumor so they have to have an aggressive preventative plan that may take up to a year.

Colin has recently started proton radiation in Orlando where they will now have to stay for the next 6 weeks. Following radiation he will start Chemotherapy in St. Petersburg . With this in mind, Colin will not be able to attend school for the rest of this school year but his oncology team expects he will return for 5th grade.

With the expenses between traveling, medical bills, neccessary medications and the potential changes to their household income, they could really use the generosity that the Hoaglan family has so kindly shown to everyone they know.

If we can raise a little bit of money to even allow them to not think about a few monthly bills and just focus on getting Colin healthy again then I know they would be forever grateful!

Thank you in advance for the love and compassion towards the Hoaglan family!!
