Kicked out of an abusive household

My name is Tara, I'm a 17 year old girl from Chicago, IL and until today I have been living in an emotionally abusive and toxic household. My father is an alcoholic, and has been for most of his life, and all of mine. Because of his abuse my mother is emotionally abusive, unavailable and detached. Though we have been through many run ins with DCFS, countless trials at rehabilitation services and family therapies, nothing has ever helped his illness and/or our family for more than a few months. Since I was a child, my dad sober had been a treat, and an honor to experience, though seldom and hard to come by. And recently, his times of sobriety have been fewer and far between the binges of week long constant alcohol consumption. Today, he was 5 months sober, and got dropped off at our porch drunk and angry, using colorful language to exclaim that I was insane, he has "no problem" and that I should leave and never come back, my face shouldn't be shown there again. I have no money, no place to live, and no car. I currently am a college student, and have no way to school. I'm in the process of getting a job, but wouldn't have transportation there either. Friends have offered their couch to me im the mean time, but I need a small start so I can find a room mate, and pay rent/feed myself until I have stable income. I feel sad and guilty having to ask for a hand out but it is my only option at this point. My mental health has deteriorated tremendously throughout the abuse, and having to be more of a parent than a child for most of my life. I hope for this second chance, and a positive start to a new era in my life, full of love instead of pain!
