Khmer Bibles For Cambodia

Hi my name is Andrew. My wife (Sophany – who is Cambodian) and I serve at Springvale South Church of Christ (SSCOC) in Melbourne, Australia. We have been involved in Cambodian ministry together (Sophany interprets) for over 5 years, which includes 4 trips to Cambodia, where each time we have been involved in ministry/teaching.
We very recently (end of May 2016) had the wonderful privilege to lead (with Sophany interpreting) a Bible Conference at Pastor Nuth Pich’s church in Phnom Penh. And there is the plan to hold regular, future conferences. At this recent conference, there were 10 different churches represented (churches planted from the Phnom Penh church). There were Pastors/elders and women (Sunday School/children's ministry leaders) from these 10 churches at the conference. These churches are spread throughout the country of Cambodia. At this conference, we heard first hand of the great need for Bibles in these different areas of the country.
We heard stories that it is not uncommon for there to be only 1 Bible (owned by the Pastor) in a village, where the Pastor will circulate/lend the Bible amongst believers in the village. The average wage of a lot of people (including Pastors) is U.S $3-4 day, so most people simply cannot afford to buy a Bible for themselves.
As well as the great need in the areas of the 10 churches, Tola Ten (who also serves in SSCOC), has informed me that there is also a great need for Bibles in the Battambang area.
At SSCOC, we have begun this fundraising project for this great need. There is a supply available of 1000 Khmer Bibles at a cost of U.S $5 each. Please give this prayerful consideration. Every little bit helps, and can dramatically change people’s lives.
For anyone in the Melbourne (or surrounding) area, I would also be more than willing to give a short presentation in your church concerning ministry in Cambodia.
