We are raising money in a bid to be able to open a centre to provide support to those affected by death by suicide and for those who have thought about or are planning on taking their life by suicide.
When I first came up with the idea to open a centre, I had a particular age group and gender in mind. Although, statistics show that there are 7 males for every one female that consider suicide and it is quite clear that males will not seek help, at the same time, my goal posts have now moved and I would like the centre to support people across the board.
We will be applying for every grant that we think we are eligible for and even some that we don't (God loves a trier!) but in the meantime we need your help. We need people to come together, for OUR community to fundraise like a life depends on it, because truth be known, in all honesty, some people's lives do.
It's easy to look away, turn the other cheek and adapt an "it will never happen to me" attitude, but with 1 in 3 of us suffering with some type of mental health issue and 80 men a week dying by suicide, can anyone really remain unaffected?
