Alex's Camp A Cappella Experience

Hello there! My name is Alex and I am currently a Junior at Texas Christian University. I've started this GoFundMe page to help raise money in order to attend Camp A Cappella in Dayton, Ohio this June.
Before I get into the details of the camp, I wanted to give a little backstory about my history with a cappella music, and what drives me to want to take advantage of this amazing opportunity. I have been singing a cappella music since I was fifteen and, since then, my love for the art has grown exponentially. After a two-year break from singing a cappella music, I joined TCU's premiere mixed a cappella group, "License to Trill" in the fall of 2015, and had the wonderful opportunity to spearhead Outreach and Marketing for our organization. Additionally, I co-arranged a song that we took to our FIRST EVER appearance at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), which is basically the real life "Pitch Perfect" competition! Having the opportunity to join this group, pursue my passions, and make a cappella music with my closest friends are memories I will never forget, and I hope to continue growing as an a cappella musician and leader through 2016-2017, as Co-President of License to Trill.
I recently came across Camp A Cappella, and that is what this GoFundMe is all about! Camp A Cappella is a camp for a cappella lovers from ages 13 through professionals and music educators. At this camp, I will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best people in the a cappella industry, like Deke Sharon ("Pitch Perfect", "The Sing-Off") and Brody McDonald. Not only will I get put with an amazing group that I will get to perform with, but I will also get to take classes in different areas of live and studio a cappella production, which I am very passionate about pursuing a career in.
I've started this page because I believe that I was put here to, as Deke Sharon would say, spread harmony through harmony. Camp A Cappella would allow me to pursue my passion and encourage others through music. I believe that if I can touch one person's heart through music, I will have fulfilled my purpose as a musician.
