Kevin S Higgins passed away unexpectedly and tragically on July 18th at the age of 37 creating a huge loss for his family and friends. His wife Nicole posted, "I love you Kevin & just want to be in your arms! Having to tell your 7 & 9 year old daughters that their only real daddy is gone, & telling your 14 year old stepson such heart wrenching news is the worst. Plus, knowing our 2 year old will grow upnwithout her daddy & probably won't even remember him breaks my heart....."

Kevin S Higgins, a military veteran who served in active duty to defend our country, was proud to be an Army Infantryman. Funeral expenses for Kevin S Higgins are expected to be well over $10,000 with the military only providing help of $600.

The money raised here will be given directly to Nicole Higgins, his loving wife and my long time friend to cover funeral expenses.

Funeral Services will be on Monday July 25th.  Visitation for public is from 10 until 1 at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Following will be a funeral & burial at Green Lawns cemetery (3pm) for veterans for burial & the completion of his military honors in which he will be receiving full military honors. Beyond sad that the VA wasn't able to help Kevin. So proud of Nicole L Higgins for bringing this to the attention of the media so hopefully this can change and more vets get the care they need. You're so brave and strong Nicole. I love you! Donations are still being accepted. Please spread the word so that maybe something like this can be prevented from happening again and we can help lift the financial weight off of Nicole and her family's shoulders. Veterans and their families deserve better care. The VA doesn't offer enough treatment options and is limited in what they can do. A message from Kevin's mother Debra Higgins, "I want to thank each and everyone of you who have supported this cause. Kevin died with no insurance. He left behind a wife and 4 children. I wish I could send a personal thank you to every person but because I don't have address for all I will not be able to. I've seen where many of our relatives, friends and even strangers have given to this cause. I'll be honest and say I never expected funerals to cost what it did. When we were hit with a $13,000 dollar bill I was way beyond shocked. Let me tell you all, get enough insurance to pay for this, don't leave your family in shock. Anyway, please know I and the rest of the family are deeply grateful for all the help. Thank you. Debra Higgins"
