Jonathan’s Recovery

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Tylisha. I don’t know how to start this or what to say. I’m 22 years old, mother to a three year old and a newborn. I am a student at San Juan College, trying to finish out these last weeks of the semester then I’ll get my degree in Criminal Justice...This story isn’t mine, it’s about my husband Jonathan.

Our little world rocked on April 2, 2018, we welcomed our second princess into this world. Everything was great, we got got dicharged on April 3rd and went home.

The next day, April 4th, my world came crashing down. It was a perfect morning, after spending our second night with our newborn and getting more sleep then we did the night before. Jonathan got in the shower, and when he came out something wasn’t right.

Jonathan is 26 years old, he’s a courier for Fed Ex. Father to both our wonderful girls, very sweet and loving. Veteran, who has been  deployed to Iraq. Loves his family very much, he has been supporting us on his own for the past two years. He wanted me to focus on my school work and not worry about a job, so that’s what I did.

Wednesday morning started out like any other day for us, but with a new baby in the house. He got up feeling better because we got more rest then we did the night before, feed baby and ate. Then he told me he was going to shower.

After getting out of the shower, he was in the room getting dressed while I was feeding on the couch he came out and mumbled something to me. I didn’t hear him and I saw he was frustrated, he then again mumbled “something is wrong with me.” I quickly jumped into action and he was taken to the ER.

There I found out he had an acute ischemic stroke. The Neurosurgeon at Farmington recommended that he’d be flown to UMN down in Albuquerque. Here we discovered there was a clot blocking part of his brain from getting oxygen.

Unfortunatly, the clot caused a small part of his brain cells to become dead. It covers his memory, motor skills and speaking. He said he’s ‘all there’ but he just can’t do the things he wants his body to do. He is going to need to take an Intensive Inpatient Rehabalition Program. There he will be working on Speech, Physical and Occupatal Therapy.

It is going to take time and patience. All I’m asking for is just assistance to get us through until he’s discharged back home. Anything helps, I really appreciate everything that everyone has done for us so far.
