Kerry's Healing Fund

Donation protected
Many of us know Kerry Kyle as a giving and kind soul who has always been there for everyone in her life. Kerry has helped set up dozens of fundraisers in the past for those in need, and is always giving back to her community… now she is in need herself and I hope we can come together for her.

About a year ago Kerry began getting some strange symptoms… bowel issues, numbness, pain, headaches, blurry vision, extreme exhaustion, and eventually even some forgetfulness. Her physicians attempted to find the cause but were not successful. These symptoms have been on and off ever since, with more constantly being added.

In June 2019, Kerry was involved in a motor vehicle accident. After examinations at the hospital and the doctor, she was diagnosed with a whiplash and concussion injury as a result of the accident. Kerry has been seeking treatment, and began to try and heal from these injuries.

On July 25th, she began to have increased numbness, starting from her feet and calves, anxiety, and pain. When she awoke on July 26th, she went to get some breakfast to try to calm herself down and eat. She noticed crumbs on her chest, and went to brush them off. She then realized that she was completely numb from her chest down. Numbness was covering most of her body. Kerry’s mom rushed her to the Emergency Room around noon that Friday. They said they would need to do a one hour MRI. That one hour MRI turned into a three solid hour MRI when the radiologists and MRI techs kept adding test, after test, after test.

Three hours after the MRIs were complete, a physician and radiologist completed some tests that concluded that Kerry's condition was much worse than a simple whiplash. Kerry and her mother were given the news that she was being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Stunned and in disbelief, tears flowed. Kerry was admitted to Sutter Roseville Friday through Sunday and was given steroid IVs, a spinal tap, dozens of laboratory tests, and lots of love from friends, family, nurses, and doctors.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that degenerates the fibers that cover the nerves in our brain and spinal cord. It can cause numbness, anxiety, depression, pain, headaches and a host of other symptoms. MS traditionally has 'flare ups' which is worsening of symptoms. The worst flare up usually being the first one. Kerry is in the middle of this first big 'flare up' and really needs help.

The main treatment at this time is bed rest and lots of it. Any of us who know Kerry know that this is an almost impossible task for such a dynamic person. It is important that her day to day life tasks include zero stress, this means work stress as well as day-to-day life stresses. Kerry’s mom has been helping tremendously with yard work, housework, and cooking, her personal assistant has as well. Her dad and mom have both been driving her to and from appointments, running errands for her, as she is not able to drive. They’ve also been drying lots of tears, taking dozens of frantic phone calls, and helping with Callia. Callia herself has been an absolute angel, wiping away mom’s tears, making her smoothies, bringing her pills, vitamins, tissue, water, you name it. She’s also been helping to keep the house clean, and sharing funny memes with her mom!

Several years ago Kerry started her own bookkeeping business from scratch and strived to acquire new clients with her hard work and attention to detail. In doing so Kerry has set up a thriving business that supports her as a full-time single mom raising her adorable daughter Callia. Kerry is determined to keep her business running, but she has no choice but to let some clients go, especially ones who she has to travel regularly to. While on bed rest Kerry will not be able to complete her regular bookkeeping duties as normal, therefore she will need some help with finances to get through the next few months.

Kerry always has a smile on her face, and is one of the most positive people I know. She loves spending time with her daughter, the love of her life Steve, family, and friends. She loves dancing, cooking, seeing concerts, being outdoors, swimming, visiting Lake Tahoe, camping, playing poker, and just being active. This has been a huge challenge to her. With healthcare also comes co-pays and other associated medical costs, such as treatments or medications that are not covered. She still doesn’t know what medications her neurologist will ultimately put her on, as she is waiting for her first appointment.

Any monetary help would be greatly appreciated, even $1.00-5.00. Gift cards, especially to Safeway, Target, Amazon, and Uber are very useful. Safeway’s grocery delivery has been a blessing, and since she won’t be able to drive for the foreseeable future, Uber is very useful. Anything at all will help her in this time of need to get through the next few months. Even a friendly text or "hello" message! Kerry has been having a hard time covering up the sorrow, pain, depression, and anxiety through all of this. Even just  a restful night's sleep, and getting out of bed, making a small meal or snack, and taking a shower is absolutely exhausting to her. She often says that she wishes she could wake up from this nightmare, but she knows it'll get better once she sees a neurologist and starts treatment. This situation is immediate and urgent, we appreciate your help for this kind soul and her daughter. This is a lifelong medical condition, a true disability, that will affect her for the rest of her life, but hopefully with a great neurologist on her side, and proper medication, treatments and care, she will be able to live a fun, happy life again.

My name is Brad, I have had the pleasure of having Kerry as one of my closest friends for the past 15+ years and it breaks my heart to see such an energetic lady lose that spark in her eyes. I look forward to seeing her start healing and hopefully getting back to her old self, but it will take time and help.  Thank you everyone, sincerely from the bottom of our hearts.
