Kerrie Taylor: Hope - Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Kerrie Taylor is one of those exceptionally funny, witty, talented, quirky good hearted people, and I am lucky enough to call her my best friend. Kerrie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer about 10 years ago and underwent chemo, treatment, and an oophorectomy and reconstruction. She has been diagnosed now a second time as she has the BRCA2 gene and is going through chemotherapy, radiation, and more surgery. (More details below.) Given the above, this means a loss of wages, enormous medical bills, and long road to recovery. I feel the need to try and help my friend - who would not ask for help but is always willing to give it. Any support you can give, which includes prayers, shares, donations if you are able and feel inclined, will be enormously appreciated by Kerrie and everyone who loves her.

Kerrie and I met years ago when we worked at a local social service agency as Case Managers for challenged kids and adults. We shared an office and we have remained fast friends. Kerrie has dedicated her life to helping others to this day, working in drug and alcohol centers, the State of Vermont, and also her own private practice as she is a licensed Psychotherapist. She needed to close her practice due to the lability of her health. This is a picture of us, both in better health, in Montpelier, VT in 2014.

Kerrie received her first diagnosis of breast cancer when she was in her 30s. Given the aggressive grade of the cancer, she needed to have multiple invasive surgeries, as well as ongoing treatment, which to this day continues to be financially and emotionally draining. Also at this time, she was told that she was BRCA2 positive, and would be unable to conceive children. Given the nature of her particular cancer, she needed to have an oophorectomy given the risk of ovarian cancer.

As many of you already know, Kerrie was diagnosed a second time in April 2018 with another invasive breast cancer in her other breast. Kerrie underwent surgery, and is now is going through chemotherapy, radiation, and then reconstructive surgery. She will need to be on medication for the remainder of her life to slow any other growth of cancer.

Kerrie is trying to remain positive (anyone who knows Kerrie knows she tries to find the best of everything.) Once Kerrie is feeling better she is going to donate time as a psychotherapist and cancer survivor to help support other women. This includes education surrounding the BRCA2 gene and all the other emotional and physical challenges that cancer can present.

Again, I feel the need to try and help my friend - and am asking for shares, (seriously SHARES would be so so much appreciated), donations, prayers, positivity, whatever you can do and feel good about. We will be sharing resources and inspiration in upcoming updates.

All funding is going directly to Kerrie who will utilize these funds for her medical and living expenses.

Again thank you to EVERYONE near and far. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
