Dear friends,
I have been having some health issues that are causing a serious situation for my family.
Last summer my knees became such a problem that I went in for double knee replacement surgery.
All went well and by November I had recovered enough that I was enjoying being able to get around quite well and was getting back to work. Then a new problem emerged. Things went downhill quickly as being up and around exacerbated a lower back issue that had been apparently developing for some time. Debilitating pain and numbness in my right leg. Xrays and an MRI showed a collapse in the vertebrae of my lower back with pressure on the big nerves that run my legs. Medication and injection of steroids had little effect. I am now facing reconstructive surgery to relieve the horrible nerve pain and associated symptoms. So, I go in on Feb. 16 for surgery and am then facing a three month recovery if all goes well. I sure hope that I can get back to being functional as I have been crippled now for months.
During all this time I have been mostly unable to work and our economic situation has become grim. The church has been helping and Medicare currently still works but I have basically exhausted personal resources.
I have heard my friend R.C share many times that the three hardest words to say are: "Please help me.”
Boy does this ring true! For a person that has always made his own way and done his best to help others both as a teacher, volunteer firefighter and emergency medical responder, and in my professional work with the developing native flute community, I find myself frustratingly unable to continue without assistance.
So if you can find it in your heart to help me, I would be eternally grateful. I have now and am facing even more medical expenses and ends that have not been meeting. I am desperately trying to hold on to my family home and household.
I am hopeful that I can recover and get my life back, but I sure could use your help in the meantime. Please help if you can. Thank you.
