Kelly Brown's Brain Cancer Support

Donation protected
Hi Everyone!

On January 3rd, Kelly Brown found out she had a massive brain tumor that needed to be acted on immediately.  With her family and friends by her side she embarked on a journey that would forever change her life.

After receiving the news of the tumor, her family did some quick but incredibly important research on the best neurosurgeon and hospital to facilitate this type of care.  By the 5th, she was headed to the University of California, San Francisco to meet Dr. McDermott, one of the best neurosurgeons in the country.

After the initial consultation with Dr. McDermott, we were all optimistic that this tumor would be benign and the worst of our worries would be an intensive brain surgery.

Monday January 9th, Kelly underwent a 5-hour surgery to remove almost the entirety of the tumor.  The staff at UCSF was beyond amazing at keeping the family updated and making sure Kelly was receiving the best care possible.

Thursday January 12th, just 9 days after finding the tumor, and with her kids by her side, Kelly received the heart wrenching news that the worst was not over.  The diagnosis came back that Kelly has a Glioblastoma tumor, which is a very aggressive, fast growing and as far as we know, an incurable tumor.

Dr. Taylor, her neuro-oncologist, delivered the news and explained what the options are.  If Kelly were to choose to leave the tumor be and not seek further treatment, she would have 3-6 months to live.  But we know Kelly and that will not work for her!

Our Kelly is now situated in the city next to her beloved UCSF for 6 weeks of radiation and 8 weeks of oral chemo.  She is very excited about a clinical trial she is a part of and wants to help with any possible research of this type of tumor and cancer to be able to provide awareness to others.

We are here to ask for help with housing, medical costs and living for Kelly so she is able stay for at least 6 weeks in San Francisco to whole heartily endure this treatment.

We are not giving up hope and optimism about how amazing UCSF is and the treatment they will be able to provide to her.

Her family would like to genuinely thank you all for your continued support and laughter through all of this.  We are all in this together.
