A Dad's Love Fights Sickle Cell

A Dad's Love. . .Derric is SUCH a wonderful Dad! His oldest child, Ladarion, age 12, battles sickle cell and has required multiple hospitalizations during his 12 years. Most recently, Ladarion was hospitalized for several months where he faced very serious complications. His disease had progressed to the severity that he ended up in a coma and on life support.  During this time his Dad spent every night in St. Louis with him.  Our goal is to make it easier for Dad to stay by Ladarion's side during his illness and worry a little less about how he will provide for his 3 children during this time, while he is not working. We also want to ensure that Derric can obtain all the medical care needed to help his son.

Our church family has watched Derric bring his children to church and teach them the right things to do. They usher, sing, attend Sunday School and Ladarion,  with his brother, works in the Technology Ministry on Sundays. We miss Ladarion's presence and pray for his recovery.

APRIL UPDATE: Ladrion has returned home, temporarily, while awaiting a bone marrow transplant. This May, Derric will be the bone marrow donor. Ladarion still struggles with chronic pain as well as other sickle cell complications. Previously, Ladarion lived with his Mom in Moberly, but due to these recent sickle cell complications, he now lives with Derric in Columbia. Now, more than ever, Derric needs his strong support system. He has been and will continue to be by Ladarion's side every step of the way. Ladarion's transplant and other medical procedures happen in St. Louis. Your donations help Derric provide for his family, travel to St. Louis and do what needs to be done to save his son. 4/5/17-Ladarion's transplant is on hold - Derric is not a match. Though this is a devastating hit to the family, we KNOW that a match will be found. Ladarion has been added to the bone marrow transplant list. Keep the family in prayer.
