Kelly Moore's Medical Fund
My dad, Kelly Moore, a school bus driver for Minot Public Schools/Bell School, has been having some medical problems. Things that have troubled him in the past have turned out to be connected. In the past, he has had a problem with choking on food, which lead to him having his esophagus stretched, numerous times.
Last Febuary, he went to the hospital, as he was having problems breathing. It turned out that it was caused by having fluid on the lungs, which was removed.
This October, he unexpectedly gained a lot of weight. He went to his doctor for a check up, and he was admitted to the hopital. They ended up removing over 3 liters of fluid from his abdomem. They also ran a battery of tests to see what caused the increase of fluid. It turns out he has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, which he found out in December.
On the 23rd of December, he went in for an MRI on his liver. When he went to his appointment on the 3rd of January, the MRI results showed that he has some spots on his liver. One of the spots is in an area thats hard to biopsy, so he is being referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN for a biopsy. The biopsy will determine if the spots are cancerous, and will determine if he is a candidate for a liver transplant.
My Mom and Dad will leave 21st or 22nd for Rochester and his appointment will be the 23rd of January. Some money maybe used to go to and from doctors appointments.
This money will to help to pay for his medical bills that his insurance won't pay for. We don't him to worry those bills when he has to take time off from the bus.
To see this man go through this kills me. I just want him to not have to worry about his medical bills and, we're worr ied about him. If he does a have liver transplant, its not 100% if it will increase his life. Yet, I don't want him in pain.
I know I set the amount high, but I want to make sure his medical bills are paid. It would mean the world me to see any part of those bills covered as he's done so much for our family.
