Kelly has been a friend for many years and is always the first person to go out of her way to offer to help a person. She has gone to the time and trouble to drive all the way to Georgia from Texas pulling a trailer full of our dogs. Last year our dog Pistol was dying of cancer. She raised the money for a vet to come to us and take care of him then return his ashes.
On the 20th of this month she is having some serious surgery. I'm going to paste her own words explaining.
Well I've been suffering from chronic neck pain and headaches my entire life and have tried since 1998 to find out why. I developed more symptoms over the years like blurry vision, dizzy spells, loss of balance, and in May my left arm went numb and I have extreme neuropathy. After 6 MRI's they determined that my skull is pinching my brain stem and my cerebellum is herniated out of the Foramen magnum 8-9 mm and I have restricted cerebral spinal fluid flow. So it was determined by my neurosurgeon I needed surgery to fix this. They will remove part of my skull (posterior fossa decompression) and do a laminectomy of c1. Then pull the muscle and skin over that area to protect my brain. They feel this will relieve most of my symptoms However some may take up to a year to get better. It will also stop any progression and remove the risk of a fall or injury ending up severing my brain stem.
Recovery time can take up to a year. She has insurance but it won't cover everything.
