Jolly has suffered from a Heart Attack and is constantly in pain when he breathes, he has been told that only an operation that is successfully performed overseas can save his life. The operation that is needed is made more complicated, by Jolly's heart that can not find a steady beat and is constantly racing.
Jolly is 38 and lives in Papua New Guinea.
In Papua New Guinea, unlike Australia, their Health System is really struggling to meet the day to day needs of their people. The General Hospitals can often run out of common medicines, are understaffed, overcrowded,
poorly equipt and have long waits times for even the most simple test. Tests that here in Australia are done quickly and covered by Medicare. But in Papua New Guinea patients are often encouraged to go the private clinics and pay to have these test run sooner and then to pay again to get their results in days rather than weeks. There are private hospitals in Papua New Guinea (pay up front) that could attempt the operation, but they do not have the skills and experience that the Australian Doctors have for this operation.
The operation that is needed is called Angioplasty, they believe that they can correct the problem but they will need to insert a special balloon that will open the vein and that will hopefully get the blood pumping normally through to his heart, if this does not clear the way then they may need to perform a bypass. If Jolly's heart continues to race then another operation will be needed so that he can have a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat.
We need the funds so that we can bring Jolly to Australia to receive this life-giving operation, that is easily and successfully performed in Australia routinely.
With the funds, we intend to use them to pay for Jolly's

and the Hospital charges.
