Keep House of Plants open

To our dearest community,

Native Home, House of Plants is a creative vision that started in late 2016. The idea was to create a beautiful and unique space that harnessed a sense of community and connection, with a focus on social justice and open discussions. It has been a safe retreat for many of you who I have watched call my space home.

Since opening, I have had to pursue further council development, a process that has lasted for the better part of 24 months. In this time, I have been unable to operate in a manner that allows the business to thrive and flourish. I have been under extreme pressure from council and other relevant authorities during this time. These processes have cost far more than I could have imagined I could generate.

I have been closed since February 2019. I have decided to continue to fight this battle with my own money being generated by working externally. This has been extremely challenging as costs are very high.

I am pursuing this because i have seen so much beauty being created in this space and truly believe that with the community that has been developing and growing here, we can continue to help generate positive change and awareness.

For the most part, the space has been provided for free and has created a platform for creative minds to flourish, to express, to perform and also to be able to fundraise for very worthy causes which I stand strongly behind. So far there has been over $18,000 raised under this roof for various charities. These things are the reason why I created this space and I want to be able to continue this into the future and see it grow and blossom.

If you feel you have been a part of our community and would love to see it continue to provide into the future, anything you can afford to put forward would make a world of difference.

Money raised will be going towards helping me with my lease commitments until i can complete these necessary council requirements.  I can no longer trade until i acquire these permits.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their time and energy in the last few months to keep the dream alive. I have seen so many of my loving friends extend their generosity time and time again and it makes me feel very supported and loved.

This place is not for me, it is for everyone. It brings me great joy in being able to provide that for each and every one of you. Here’s to a bright future for all.
