Keep Dayton, VA Contra Dancing

This is contra. This is our community. As you can see, we are all sizes, ages, and cultures. We love to get together to dance, but unfortunately in the past year many surprising expenses have made it difficult for us to host our family-friendly dances.
Some of those expenses include increased rent and non-profit status. We've managed until now to find locations around the area that we can dance without having insurance but available space is becoming increasingly difficult to find. One location we have danced at for over 20 years with a lovely wooden floor is now requiring insurance in order for us to continue dancing there.
Other locations we dance at are less than ideal, often with tile floor on concrete which can be harmful and uncomfortable to dance on. We've discovered that locations with better dance floors require insurance.
We want to keep our dances going. They are great opportunities to keep historic culture alive, foster creativity, enjoy local and live music, develop community, encourage exercise, interact with our multi-cultural and international communities, and connection with our three local universities.
We are seeking to raise $800 to cover insurance and non-profit costs for this year.
