Hello-
My Name is Kaylynn and I am 21 years old.  On November 4th I woke up with a bump on the right side of my neck.  I asked my mom if she could see anything or if it looked "funny".   She said "Oh my gosh Kaylynn, that does not look right.  Did you pull a muscle?  Is there a bite mark, maybe from a spider?" I told her no, and we could not see anything on or around the bump.  I saw the Dr. that same day, and she said it looked like an infection in the clavicle, and perscribed me 10 days of antibiotics.  I noticed it was a little sore but I just went about my regular work and school schedule.

On the 11 day after first noticing the bump, and finishing the 10 days of antibiotics, the bump was still there and still sore.  I showed it to my mom and she said "You are not going to school today, we are going to the Dr."  We called the doctors office and the Dr. had advised us that she would make a referral to an ENT (ear, nose and throat Dr.) it would take a few weeks.  My mom said "NO WAY! We are not waiting! We are going to the ER NOW!"

We got to the ER about an hour later and they took me right back,  The ER Dr.  examined me in a chair in the hallway about 20 mins after our arrival. The ER Dr. was a woman, very young and seemed very concerned,  she ordered bloodwork and a needle biopsy right away.   By 5:00 that evening I was told that it was "mass" and that the results would be in, in a few days and I would need to follow-up with an Oncologist ASAP.  (This Dr. is getting the first "Thank you" card that I will write).

This all happend so fast that it is still difficult to process. The following week I was in the onconoligists office.  He told us that he was also concerned about all the enlarged lymph nodes in my chest as well as the ones in my neck.  The Dr. kept us late and called in a favor to a surgon, the next day I had surgery to remove a lymph node from my neck for another  biopsy, that was November 23, 2016.

The following week I was told that I have Nodular Sclerosis Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma.  The first step prior to chemotherapy is to figure out how to limit the damage to my ovaries in hopes of limiting infertility problems for me later.  THIS IS THE ONLY REASON I AM REACHING OUT FOR HELP.  I have always wanted to have children. This process is very expensive. Below is a cost breakdown:

Medication, harvesting, storage = $12,000

The medication was covered by "Heartbeat", a program through Walgreens- Thank You Walgreens!

This left $9,500 and required a deposit of $1,500 the next day.  As a family, we were able to pay the deposit.  This leaves a balance of $8000 with payments of $200.00 per month. I now find myself unable to work,  go to school or even drive my car.  I am concerned about my bills as I wait to hear back from social security disability and just thinking about that first payment of $200.00 due on January 6th is very stressful for me.

I will take my final hormone injection tonight, with possible "egg harvesting" by the weeks end.  Once the harvesting is done, then I begin injections to shut down my ovaries (sending me into menopause overnight). Three weeks after this process, I will start chemotherapy.
A port has been placed to administer the chemo and we are now waiting for the PET scan results (to know how much / long chemo will be).
Please feel free to donate, share, or just say a prayer for cancer patients everywhere.

Thank you,
Kaylynn Marie Harrison
