Kaylee's Culinary Dream

Donation protected
How do I even begin explaining how deserving Kaylee is of achieving her dream of going to Culinary Institutes of America in NY City?! She has already completed her first semester in Culinary at Madison College and knows that this is her future. For her to even look into the future is a dream of mine. You see Kaylee has been fighting cancer (Neuroblastoma) for over 4 years now. This type of cancer usually strikes children under 6 years old and the older you are the harder it is to beat. She was 15 at diagnosis. It has been almost 2 years since she completed cancer treatment and scans have been showing that although the cancer is still there, it has not been growing or spreading.  Unfortunately, due to her Stem Cell Transplant causing GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease) she was required to go on steroids that ultimately caused Avascular Necrosis in many of her joints. She had to have a total hip replacement in February and we are anticipating her knee to be replaced in the near future. This is just all too much any 19 year old should have to endure. All she wants is to live her life to the fullest and SHE IS!  This school is not cheap and it is the best of the best but then so is she! Her grandmother left her a little money for her education but it is nowhere near what the tuition is. I would move mountains and drain oceans for her but I’m just not able to afford her much financial help.  Kaylee was born along with her twin Carly on May 8, 2000, exactly 1 year after my husband and I were married. (I do have to point out that their birthday takes priority over our anniversary, lol) Sadly, Carly also had Neuroblastoma when they were 3. She is a medical miracle and doing fantastic things now with her own life! So, with all the medical drama, bills, time off from work and other factors we just didn’t have extra funds to put away for either of them (or us). I don’t want to come off as “Oh poor, poor me. Give me money” I just want Kaylee to live her dream! And besides, this is a lot easier than moving mountains! Thank you for even just taking the time to read this! Karen
