Kay Haring Reading & Block Party!

SUPPORT A ONE-OF-A-KIND COMMUNITY EVENT!

On Saturday, July 1st the Queen Memorial Library is pleased to welcome author Kay Haring to Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood. Kay is the sister of Keith Haring, the artist behind the “We the Youth” mural in the Haring Garden on 22nd/Ellsworth streets. Kay's new children’s book Keith Haring: The Boy Who Just Kept Drawing is the story of her brother’s creative journey. She will join us for a celebration in front of the mural, which marks its 30th anniversary this year (1987-2017). This is a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together around a very special landmark!

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THE EVENT?

·     Kay will read, sell and sign copies of her book
·     Fun activities for kids and families
·     Giveaways and prizes
·     Free refreshments
·     Info tables for local art/literacy/philanthropic organizations

We have a fundraising goal of $1,000 to ensure the success of this event. Donations go to the Friends of Queen Memorial Library, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit. We hope you will consider donating to support this special endeavor and look forward to seeing you on July 1st!

**Check the library's webpage for more event info as it becomes available.
