We have exciting news! Kaua'i is organizing it's first annual PRIDE Parade!! We are a committee of non-profit partners, including the YWCA of Kaua'i, LAMBDA Aloha, Malama Pono Health Services, PFLAG Kaua'i, and community members.
The parade is scheduled for Saturday June 22, 2019 from 9am-2pm. The mission of the PRIDE Parade Committee is to bring our community together for an annual event that honors and celebrates diversity and inclusivity. This will be a fun, family-friendly event to raise awareness and promote equality.
PRIDE Parades have become prominent all over the nation and the world. The first annual Kaua'i PRIDE Parade will take place in the heart of Lihu'e on Rice Street. The parade will culminate on the County lawn for a day of activities - including speakers, entertainment, information booths, and food vendors. The projected budget for parade and event logistics is $15,000 - with costs ranging from public safety measures including police and security assistance, permitting and equipment (stage, tents, etc.), as well as PR efforts such as PSAs and media placements.
