Katrina's Leukaemia Fund

This is Katrina. She has been one of my best friends for close to 30 years. She is a single mother to two sons, aged 14 and 12, and this past May, the day after Mother's Day, she was absolutely blindsided after being diagnosed with leukaemia. She was admitted to hospital immediately and spent a full month in a hospital bed,  receiving extremely painful arsenic treatments. She's now home, but faces 11 more months of aggressive treatment. This means she is unable to work during the next year, and while she will continue to receive some benefits from her employer, it will not come close to covering all of her expenses.

 I decided to start this campaign for her, because despite how much she may need it, she would never ask herself. As long as I have known her, she has been a loving, giving individual who would do anything she could for someone else in need and as such, she deserves others to step up in her time of need. Being a single mother and making ends meet can be tough at the best of times. Imagine navigating that uncertain path while also engaging in the fight of your life. 

This campaign would help put her mind at ease about finances, and allow her to truly focus on the task and fight at hand. The biggest challenge she faces is providing a normal and stable environment for her kids, so if you prefer to donate groceries, meals, cleaning, or landscaping, or any other of the regular mundane maintenance that a household requires, that would be great appreciated as well.
