Kati's Cancer & SMAS Story

Kati is 44 years young and was diagnosed with Nasal Cancer in November 2018 and Vulvar Cancer in January 2019. For those of you that know Kati, she is so amazing and strong. She always puts others needs above her own and has a hard time asking for help. I can’t say enough about how strong of a support system she has been to others during devastating and tragic events. 

She underwent nasal surgery in December 2018 and a Vulvectomy in January 2019. More cancerous cells were detected in her lymph nodes. As a result, she went through eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. Shortly after finishing chemo and radiation, a congenital defect was detected in her aorta, which led to a diagnosis of Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome or SMAS. Unfortunately, Kati will now need to have a feeding tube for the next 6 months. 

Because of this, she has been unable to work. Short term disability is not an option due to the fact that she is part owner in a photography business. Several of her medical expenses are not covered and with everyday necessities, she has depleted all of her savings. I don’t know how she’ll be able to make ends meet. Money is really tight. 

We need to show Kati our love and support. Just as she has helped so many along life’s journey, we need to step up and help her. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated.
