As many of you have heard, Kaśka Mackowska passed away the morning of January 11, 2018, after a very tough year that included hospitalization for several months, being in a coma, intense surgical procedures (brain), as well as the debilitating effects of all of this on her health (memory, motor skills, severe pain). In addition to, but despite these medical problems, she was also nearing her 1-year anniversary in recovery (sober).
Anyone that knew her knows that she was kind and free-spirited despite her unimaginable struggles. Kaśka battled addiction and issues with mental health for most of her life, yet each day she found the power to not only find relief, but to live. She used her sensitivity to care for and accept others without judgment and her energy to make others laugh. Her passion and warmth left lifelong impressions on the many people that were fortunate enough to know her. Kaśka was a mother, daughter, sister, and a dear friend to many.
We - her family - have been working on updating her facebook page with photos of her over the years, and will leave it open for those who would like to share a memory or say some words during this difficult time.
In the coming days, we will provide updates/information about services in remembrance of Kaśka (in the Buffalo/Seneca area, as well as NYC). At the moment, it seems like services will be held at Kloc's on Clinton St. (details to follow).
Her untimely passing has been difficult for those closest to her and all donations will be used to help lessen the financial cost of services placed on the family. If you want to help but aren't able to donate, you can assist by sharing the page/link with others. All your help is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who was a friend to Kaśka, especially during these last few years and throughout her struggles. She had so much love for all of you, and her family's appreciation for the love you gave her in return cannot be be put into words.
