In the summer of 2013 I had a life-changing, soul-uplifting, and transformative experience doing service work at a 10 day Kundalini Yoga event in the high desert of northern New Mexico.
That experience has stayed with me, and I return to it often in my daily life, as I remembered to reconnect with the lessons I learned there and recharge my inner strength.
I have often dreamt of finding a way to make it back there, but as a mother of a one year old baby, and as a full time volunteer for a nonprofit organization that my partner and I commit every moment of our lives to, it has felt like a very distant, almost unattainable dream.
Then one day I woke up, and I decided I am going to make it happen, right now, this year. I am going to Summer Solstice Sadhana 2016 in the high desert of New Mexico, and I am going to work with the children there, at the kid's camp ! So I jumped online and filled out my application form, and the very next day I heard back from the lovely woman who manages the volunteer team for the children's camp. She called me for an interview, and before the end of the call, she had invited me onto the team.
I now have this amazing work trade opportunity lined up at one of the most profound events I have ever experienced, but I need your help to get there! As someone who has committed their live's work to selfless service for the earth and her children, I do not have any savings or income to be able to fund this trip. I would like to invite all of you who are reading this story, to help support my work in the world by donating whatever amount you feel inspired to give.
My intention in making this journey is not only for my own personal growth and expansion, but also for that of my daughter, and for that of our nonprofit organization, Circle of Children . This experience will bring me new insights on working with children, and give me an opportunity to share what I have learned in turn. It will help refuel my fire and keep me aligned with the vision and purpose I am holding for my work with Circle of Children, and for my role as a mother. I am also excited to share that it will provide me with an opporunity to create a bridge between Circle of Children and the Kundalini community, which is another dream I have held in my heart since I left the desert in 2013.
What will your gifts contribute to? Our expenses for this trip are as follows:
$450 air fare for my daughter and I
$150 Transportation to/from airports
$315 event fare (for 10 days of meals and lodging)
$85 gear for the desert for my daughter and I
Total: $1000
That's it! The event starts so soon, and we need to fly out on the 15th of June, and book our trip well before then, so with enough contributions from everyone, I trust we can meet our goal within 10 days!
