Dear friends,
I hope you are doing well. As some of you may know I just graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology including a minor in Christian ministries this past May from Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL. I have been so blessed these last four years to be able to attend a Christian university where I was able to grow in my faith while receiving a higher education. I also was given the opportunity to play volleyball. During my time at Trinity I discovered that I felt called to do ministry. Leading up to graduation I was unsure what that looked like and what God’s plan was for my life post-graduation.
When I heard about Youth With A Mission (YWAM) I was immediately interested in their organization and what they had to offer. I knew right away that this was where God wanted me to be for the next year. Therefore, I will be traveling to Perth, Australia from October 7, 2018 until March 23, 2019 to be involved in a Sports Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM. This is a six month course where I will be experiencing God in new ways and living the adventure of spreading His word to different nations through sports. It's an intense, full-time program consisting of two parts - lecture phase and outreach phase, which I will experience with a team of others. The lecture phase will consist of a 3 month classroom based setting where we will explore a range of topics, guided by experienced local and international missions’ practitioners. Every week will address areas related to following Jesus in our daily lives and through our character, our personal relationship with God and missions. In addition to class work we will be doing mission work in the surrounding community in Perth with different sports activities. The following 3 months my team and I will be going on a cross-cultural outreach to serve the lost and bring the hope of Christ to other nations through our passion of sports. Our team will not decide on which country we will be traveling to for the outreach phase until we are in Australia. However, the Sports DTS typically goes somewhere in SE Asia or Africa. We will be able to apply what we learned in the lecture phase and use the growth we experienced there to evangelize to people from different cultures and nations that may not know Jesus. To make this trip a reality for me, I first and foremost ask that you would pray for me as I prepare for this journey and for myself and my team during our 6 month DTS with YWAM. I ask that you would pray for protection during my travels and most importantly that God would change my life and the lives of others I encounter to know Him more and to undoubtedly see His power and unending love for us. Second, my goal is to raise $10,000 to cover the expenses of this trip. The lecture phase is approximately $3,810 and the outreach phase ranges anywhere from $4,000 to $6,000, depending on what country my team and I will be traveling too. Other expenses will be my flight to and from Amsterdam and Perth and my visa to be able to enter Australia. I ask that you would consider helping me reach this goal by contributing through a donation on this website. Any amount you could provide would help me tremendously while I embark on this upcoming adventure to serve the Lord, others and grow in my relationship with Him.
