Karabo at St. Olaf College

Hi my name is Karabo Ramosamo from Botswana, I am a 20 year old young man who has dreams of becoming a chemical engineer and a literacy activist. I just completed my International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Diploma) in United World Colleges Costa Rica  on May 2018. I managed to get accepted by St Olaf College  in Minnesota, USA under a full scholarship and I will begin my studies by the 28th of August 2018.

Although I managed to get full financial assistance for my tuition fees, the financial constraints in my family mean that I am unable to buy a flight ticket on my own. This is therefore a request, I ask you to help me realize my dreams and help me get back to school in time. Please take a moment to make donation and help contribute, any amount helps. I will need at least $1400 to cover everything I need for my trip to school, $360 for my visa, $900 for my flight ticket, and $140 for unexpected expenses. I know, this is no easy task but where is a will, there is a way. My two years in Costa Rica have been a very eye opening experience, I have had the privilege of meeting people from all around the world as well as the opportunity to experience the privilege of a good education- an experience I would love to relive. Many of you would remember that I had to go through the same process again last year and many of you would remember that your love and all the help this community gave me is what got me back to Costa Rica.

Getting a good education in St Olaf College would grant me the opportunity to move myself and my nation a couple of rungs up the socioeconomic ladder and this is an opportunity I am not ready to lose simply because of financial difficulties. The idea is to get an education that would allow me to pave ways for better tomorrows, for me, my family, as well as for the nation as a whole. I dream of living in a day in which all the difficulties I grew up with would be nothing but history and what better way to do it than with a good education? I dream of seeing a day, in a not so distant future, where i could say with new meaning,
'Up from a gloomy past
'Til now we stand at last
Where the bright gleam of our star
Is cast'
