Kanha's Kids

Greetings Everyone.  As I embarked on my first visit back to my home country I could not fathom what to expect but I knew it would be life changing.  Two little girls, which happen to be my cousins, captured my heart.  After our initial meeting I was instantly in awe in how they endure some tough situations in life at such a young age -but nevertheless with a smile.  It was inspirational.  I came away knowing that I wanted to assist them however I could...and this is my way.  Their two schools, one in Laos and one in Thailand, are in need of some help.  After meeting with the principal in Laos and the assistant principal in Thailand, we were able to come up with a plan -  which is why I am reaching out to all of you for help.  I know both communities, myself included, would be so very grateful for anything you can donate, small or large.

The school in Laos has about 100 students with only one, yes ONE, squatting toilet for the entire school!  My cousin was telling me that some kids go in the back of the school because they couldn't wait long enough for the bathroom (unimaginable)!  The rest of the school is also in need of help but the bathroom is their main priority.  I would like to help make this project a reality for them!  Estimated costs for this project is $700.

The school in Thailand (happens to be next to my parents house) is looking to finish the construction on an enclosed pavilion.  They are hoping to finish the floors, and add fans and lights.  After informing the assistant principal that I would try to help raise money for his project his response was heartening.  With tears in his eyes he said that his dreams were coming true.  This project was something he had had to put off for many years and was so very thankful that I was able to give him some hope.  Estimated costs for this project is $1700.

A sincere thank you to all of you that took time to read this and for your consideration towards both projects.  Once funds are received I will send the money to the schools and in turn my cousins will send along photos, which I will post here.  It warms my heart knowing that we can make a difference in a child's life!
