About Us - The Kanata Sports Club (“KSC”) is a non-profit organization right here in your Community! You may not have heard of us, but you probably know someone who has benefitted from the generosity of our members and sponsors and we need your help to repair/renovate our kitchen!
The KSC supports amateur sports in our Community through grants to sports teams, individuals including local youth and amateur athletes, and other charitable donations to worthwhile causes such as Soldier On/Military Families. Did you know we have donated over $1.7 million dollars over the past 30 years! Our members also volunteer their time in the community - such as past Canada Day in Kanata events and the Santa Clause Parade.
As a non-profit organization, the Kanata Sports Club relies on its kitchen facilities to helps raise money through hall rentals (Birthday, Anniversary, Retirement and Christmas parties, Paint nights), as well as for us to prepare meals for various fundraising events at the Club (Grey Cup, Superbowl, American Thanksgiving, and TGIM (Thank Goodness I’m a Member)) just to name a few.
We are located above the Jack Charron Arena, in Glen Cairn (Kanata) and our kitchen is currently in desperate need of renovation. We have leased this space since our inception from the City of Ottawa and over the years, not much has changed in our kitchen except that like many of us, it is feeling a bit old and tired and needs a facelift! Unfortunately, the City of Ottawa is not required to cover the necessary renovations to our kitchen facility and has offered no financial assistance.
Through membership sales and fundraising events, we do have funds available to start this project, however this means we will not be able to approve many grant requests, and provide much needed support to those in need for the next year. Your support means that we will be able to continue these efforts and complete the necessary work to get our kitchen back in good working order more sooner than later so we can keep giving back to the Community.
We have estimated the cost of the kitchen renovation to be $15,000, and we will do all we can to keep the cost as low as possible, including having volunteers assist whenever possible. We hope to have this renovation completed by Spring 2018. Our goal would be to raise enough money to cover all of the costs, and anything exceeding this amount would be given out in the form of additional grants and donations to those in need.
Please do not consider that our request for assistance would just be a benefit the City’s property in any way, as we plan to be here in this location for many years to come. Any donation big or small would be appreciated not only by the KSC, but by all who benefit from our support.
