Help Sophie Heal

Sophia has been in and out of the hospital since birth with no real diagnosis. Although she’s made great progress in some areas her health has steadily declined despite multiple surgeries/procedures. This past Friday we were at John Hopkins for another “routine” set of test to just got through the process of elimination and monitor her. She was scheduled to have a sedated MRI and PH Probe and we were to be released in the morning. Well I knew something was wrong when they said the Dr was going to come to the hospital to meet with me (he is not a part of Hopkins so him coming there just to speak with me was a red flag.) He informed me that her scan (MRI) was not good and that she has Chiari Malformation 1 and the Neurosurgery team would be coming to meet with me. They came and met with me shortly after and informed me Sophia would not be going home and that she needs to have surgery on her brain and that it is not something that can wait. Normally they would wait and watch a child with Chiari Malformation and intervene surgically when necessary but they said at this point it is very bad and they will be pushing to get her operated on as soon as Tuesday. I’m not that will happen because of her other health issues a big surgery like this is incredibly risky but I’m not sure there are any other options, at the moment they have started her on steroids to try to decrease the swelling in her brain. Needless to say I have to inform my job tomorrow that I won’t be able to work this week or probably next I have no idea what recovery is going to look like for her. I have used up my time off between her weekly appointments and hospital stays. I appreciate any help that can be offered, I wish I was rich but I’m not and I have to face reality that with all of this and missing work I will not be able to pay my bills. All I know is she’s a fighter and all of this is terrifying. If you can not donate anything please just pray for her, ask God to heal her and keep her safe during this process. Thank you.
