Speech And Debate Nationals

I am ecstatic to tell you that the Carson High School Speech and Debate Team has qualified 5 competitors to go to the biggest academic competitition in the world: Speech and Debate Nationals!

The opportunities to learn at this event will not only allow for these competitors to get better at the events that they compete in, but will also allow these students to cross apply argumentation, presentation,  professionalism, and sportsmanship-like conduct into all other areas of their lives. Even better, Nationals competitors always come back and help their team mates raise their own skills to the next level.

Simply put, speech and debate has made me the person I am: a diligent, modest, persevering, student effective in communication and public policy. My goal is to help any and all students add these skills to their abilities.

This program has been around for more than 90 years, sparking leaders like President Kennedy, President Clinton, President Reagan, President Johnson, Hillary Clinton, Malcolm X, Oprah Winfrey, Ted Cruz, Antonin Scalia, and countless others. Speech and Debate fosters academic growth of all areas.

Simply put, what we need is help getting there. Nationals are in Birmingham, Alabama this year. Naturaly, plane tickets are expensive and driving there would be more expensive when you factor in all expenses.  Even as a school event, we have to come up with more than 90% our own funding.
