Bayou City Theatrics became a place for not only the advancement of local art, but a place for local artists and students to come together and grow and share their talents and passion. To every performer, aspiring performer and creative involved in our first seasons at The Kaleidoscope, our intimate space has become more than just a place to perform, it has become a secondary home.
As we enter the early stages of rebranding Bayou City Theatrics as The Kaleidoscope Theater, we have exciting artistic plans and more income opportunities than we have ever had! Before moving forward with our new business model as TKT, we want to wipe the slate clean of debt accrued as a young theatre company. First and foremost, we want to remove our debt to artists in the community. We want to take care of our treasured actors and musicians and let them know how important they are to us and to the future of TKT.
It's a very exciting time for the Houston theatre community, booming with advancement, renovation, and beautiful art. With the opening of MATCH, the brand new Queensbury Theater, the overhaul of Main Street Theatre, and the major renovation of the Alley, things are alive and well with the large theatre houses in Houston. Despite all of this forward progress, The Kaleidoscope Theater has not received the same sort of funding.
We have been able to keep time on our side by receiving our 501c3 sponsorship from Fractured Atlas and applying for grants in the hope that they would come to fruition in time. Unfortunately, funds have not accrued from our fundraising efforts at a fast enough rate or to a substantial enough amount to combat the consistently mounting costs of maintaining a downtown theater.
At this time, we are asking, if you have any means to support The Kaleidoscope Theater with a monetary donation, you might consider assisting our fundraising efforts to erase our past debt so that we may continue to bring our art to the stage. Any amount is a step towards a positive future for The Kaleidoscope!
We hope that you can find it in your heart to support our young company as we fight our way through adversity in order to continue to bring Houston a new kind of art that has touched so many and has the potential to touch so many more.
