Jye's Tennis Wheelchair

Jye is a 15 year old boy who is passionate about sport enjoying both tennis and swimming regularly. Jye has cerebral palsy and uses a manual wheelchair for mobility.
Jye has been playing tennis for 5 years. His first tennis wheelchair was a 2nd hand one that we were lucky enough to purchase cheaply from another player. Jye is now 15 years old and, having grown quite a bit during the past year, desperately needs another tennis wheelchair to continue playing.
We have tried to source another 2nd hand chair or lease one, both to no avail. Jye was recently fitted for a new tennis wheelchair and the quote is for $4,169. Due to Jye's sudden growth spurt it has been necessary to upsize all his equipment and as a result we have exhausted most avenues of funding available to him.
Tennis has helped Jye in so many ways. It has lifted his self-esteem, it has kept him fit and motivated, it has provided a school sport that he can competently be involved in WITH his peers and friends, it has helped lift his social profile by featuring on the front of our local phone book 2010/2011 as well as being seen as a regular feature at his local tennis court, and it has given him a focus away from his disability.
