Monique had a small set back yesterday and was admitted to Mt Sinai West for another series of CT-Scans and an MRI. It showed another small stroke this time in the pons section of the brain.
Brain repatterining is a complex process often consisting of two steps forward followed by one step back. That is what I’m told by neurologists and many rehab nurses.

It is doubtful Monique can return to work anytime in the near future and our savings, what there was left following her open heart surgery two years ago have about run out. We are teetering on a scary financial precipuce and will need money to survive. My salary at BRC will not cover our monthly expenses and Carl’s school costs. The process of applying for disability is also complicated by her having worked only 5 weeks with her present employer who is technically based in Kentucky not New York, thus making her ineligible for employer based short term disability benefits. We are in the process of finding a disability law firm to aid us in obtaining short and eventually long term social security disability benefits for her but the it is a process that will take a matter of months if not a year or two. Carl has renegotiated his St Johns tuition payments, increased his guaranteed student loans but that process has been further complicated by the fact the last healthcare emergency two years ago ravaged what was left of our already shaky credit and with changes in the federal student loan programs under the current administration things such as parent plus loans or private student loans are being denied to us. To make matters worse the IRS is and has been knocking at the door and as we pay off our past tax debts they continue to dig and scruntinize finding more and more past tax debt. As many of you know the changes to the tax laws enacted recently have not boded well for most New Yorkers.

We need money money to keep Carl in school. We need money to continue to care for Monique and to keep a roof over our heads. I would not be typing or posting this if I had other alternatives but the alternatives are quickly vanishing. I ask each of you who have known or worked with either Monique or I to please help. Understand this is not a one shot deal we will require assistance over the next several months. No amount is too little, anything will be appreciated.
