This is Jio (short for Jiovany). He is only 29. On Wednesday Afternoon, June 27, 2018, Jio was on his way home, to Oyster Bay, from work when he had a horrific motorcycle accident. By the grace of God he is surviving. Jio, this vivacious young man has been through 6 surgeries with more on the way and heavily sedated. His immediate family has been by his side since, because when Jio wakes up he will have a new life to contend with. A life with an amputated leg, months of rehab after his shattered hips heal, his intestine was cut, and other medical problems.

When Jio’s parents became ill from diabetes (his mother also had to have a leg amputated and his father suffers from dementia) Jio, along with his siblings all pitched in to help. Jio being the oldest took on most of the responsibilities. He will no longer be a main source of funds to keep the family afloat. Behind on rent, his landlord is now trying to evict him and his family because of his circumstance. Unless a new home is found his family will have to be separated.

There is a GoFund me account set up to help with finding a new place with facilities that can help him when he returns home, some of the money will be allocated towards bills that are already  starting to pile up and some to pay the hospital. A donation of any amount will help greatly. We also ask that if anyone knows someone who may have seen something on that day to please contact the Highway Unit #3 Police Dept. (718) [phone redacted]. The accident occurred on 495 by the Cross Island. Any leads might help with this ongoing investigation. And lastly Please share this post.

On behalf of my parents, sisters and brothers,
Thank you
