Jump the Moon Foundation is a fledgling non-profit dedicated to "Ennobling people of all art ability."
Since Michael Bingham gave his Ted talk (see it here https://youtu.be/EkSeG8wBacA) on how art can change the life of those with disabilities, he has received constant encouragement to take his vision to the next level. Thus, the birth of the Jump the Moon Foundation.
The response to Jump the Moon has been amazing. We raised over $7,000 in our first 8 days meeting our first goal and we have seen a steady stream of visitors at the studio. However, we still need your financial support as we work toward becoming fully operational.
We need to raise funds to:
- Make our restrooms accessible to all our artists by adding an adult size changing table. This requires us to move one of the walls of our restroom.
- Get our physical and online art gallery up and running. The gallery is critical to our vision. The gallery is the medium Jump the Moon Artists can sell their work. The gallery needs display walls, easels, paint, lighting
- Computers and printers etc.
- Establish a long-term lease.
To accomplish these new near term goals we have set a new total fundraising goal of $27,595.
In our first sixty days...either through your financial donations or through in-kind donations we have accomplished the following:
- Secured a temporary studio
- Obtained fixtures, art supplies, tools to start work.
- Covered all our administrative start up costs (e.g., bank account, filing fees, web fees etc.)
- Filed with the IRS for official non-profit 501(3)c status. FYI the fee was $850.
- Start paying for our space and utilities.
Our other fundraising, support, and partner activities.
- Our landlord and a major donor have given generously to help us get into the studio space on a temporary basis. However, we still need support as we work to get long-term support (e.g., grants and fundraising events) and enough funds to establish a long-term lease.
- Cache School District and USU have provided many of our fixtures and furniture through their surplus programs.
- The Cache Education Foundation is researching how to obtain funds to help with busing needs.
- Our artist assistant and artist advocate volunteer team is growing.
- One local business and one local non-profit organization have each commissioned the first two art projects produced by our artists.
- Deseret industries is making arrangements to donate art supplies.
Our long-term vision is to operate through an endowment, gallery, grants, and volunteers and not rely on donations.
So, please help Michael and the rest of us cheering him on by donating to the Jump the Moon Foundation. Now that we have the funds to get established let's start bringing the vision directly to those who will be ennobled by your kindness.
