Julie's Journey to Healing

Donation protected

My journey began over 17 years ago when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2000. I went through extensive surgery which included a mastectomy of my right breast with reconstructive surgery, a lumpectomy of my left breast and a total hysterectomy, followed by continuous cancer treatment. I also went through a very long and painful rehab from complications of my surgery due to nerve damage and lymphedema. After some time, I overcame that challenge. I was on the road to recovery, looking forward to the future, putting breast cancer behind me.
That is, until one day in September 2017, when I noticed a change in my vision. Given the symptoms, I thought I had developed a cataract. I had an eye exam and was then referred to a specialist. After several exams, I was informed that a cataract was the least of my worries and was referred to oncology, which led to further tests. Tumors were found in both eyes. In late October, not feeling well, I went to the ER. Unknowingly, I had contracted pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital for a week. After a broad range of testings, tumors were found on my lungs and my bones had also been affected. The root cause of all my problems turned out to be metastasis from breast cancer, my second diagnosis.
My breast cancer had recurred, this time more aggressively at stage 4 (metastatic), causing secondary cancer of my eyes (making me visually impaired), secondary cancer of my lungs and my bones. After losing the use of my right leg due to severe hip pain as a result of the bone cancer, I have undergone radiation treatments, which has provided some relief. I am currently on hormone therapy treatment plus infusion treatments for my bones. I am also undergoing chemotherapy treatment, which will hopefully shrink the tumors and will need more radiation treatments in the future. I am not able to work due to my ongoing health issues. Family members and friends do what they can, but sometimes they just can't help as much as they would like to. I never would have thought to ask others for help. Now I am in a really difficult place.
Through your donations, it would be a tremendous help with medical expenses which continue to mount, as well as help with rent, utilities, just basic necessities for the next few months as I undergo treatment.
I know that money can be tight. Anything you are able to donate is truly appreciated. Please give what you can. If you can't give monetarily, I understand. You can also help by sharing this page to spread the word about my journey, "Julie's Journey to Healing", and making a donation. If you believe in prayer......please pray for me.
It is with much gratitude that I thank you.
I know everyone's journey is different but I think the mission is the same...
to come out the other side healthy, happy and whole again.
God Bless.
