Julie Leal's Fight Against Cancer

Thank you for visiting Julie's GoFundMe page. Your love, prayers and support for Julie and her family are appreciated beyond words.
Julie was first diagnosed with Melanoma nine years ago when she was pregnant with her beautiful twin boys, Marcus and Daniel. The Melanoma was surgically removed and she was doing well until she had a recurrence in 2013, this time with eight lung nodules. She began daily Immunotherapy treatment for the lung nodules which had
been very successful. In fact, during her most recent Oncologist visit, "complete remission" was discussed as a possibility, which was extremely encouraging.
However, life for Julie and her family changed dramatically on Tuesday February 28, 2017. David, Julie and the boys went to school like any other day but while in the classrooom reading to her students, Julie began experiencing visual changes and excused herself to the bathroom where she had a seizure. 911 was called and she was transported to the Emergency Room at St. Rose Siena Hospital in Henderson. They soon learned from the ER doctor that Julie had five brain tumors, one of which was bleeding and the resulting pressure on her brain was causing her disorientation. They were shocked to realize the Melanoma had spread to her brain (Melanoma with Brain Metastases). Urgent Neurosurgery was successfully performed on Friday March 3 to remove the largest bleeding tumor, yet 4 smaller brain tumors remain.
As those of you who know Julie personally are well aware, she is a very strong and optimistic woman with an incredible faith. She is loved by so many as a wife, mother, daughter, family member, friend and teacher. We have all been touched by her smile, kindness, joy and brightness and we know she will undoubtedly tackle this fight with determination and strength.
As you can imagine, Julie and David will need financial help to pay for the already mounting medical bills, co-pays, deductibles, and household expenses that unfortunately continue despite her devastating illness. Julie is facing months of treatment ahead and the financial burden can be significant,
despite insurance. She is working with Neurosurgery, Oncology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy as part of her extensive treatment regimen.
Your continued love, prayers, encouragement and ANY financial support that you may be able to contribute are greatly appreciated to help Julie, David, Marcus and Daniel on the difficult journey ahead. God bless.
