Judy's Journey to Repair Her Home

Judy Astorp's husband, Norm, was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and passed away at the end of April 2017.  Unfortunately their health insurance did not cover some of Norm's medical expenses and Judy was left with the debt.  Judy chose to sell her house to help pay the debt they incurred.  Her son and his wife,
Kris & Amity (Pence) Astorp, took on this task for her. Kris & Amity have had their own share of financial hardship when their daughter was born in 2009 with Esophageal Atresia. Their daughter had over 22 surgeries and procedures before she was 5 years old.

On Friday, July 21, 2017, heavy rains caused major flash flooding in the city of Sumner, IA where she lives.  Ultimately Judy's home was one of at least 4 that had the foundation give way.  The home insurance will not cover the repair.  Judy & Kris were only 6 days from closing on the house.   A crew has graciously started working on the house and the estimate is $17-$19k.  Now this family has to try to come up with funds that simply none of them have, due to all the medical expenses they have previously incurred.
