Juan Carlos Morgan deserves a chance

Donation protected

UPDATE: I wanted to give a BIG thank you to all of you for your help and donations. Juan  Carlos would've not have had the oportunity to try the treatment in Houston and also return home to see his family a final time . Things didn't work out as we wished and it is hard to understand God's plan, but we have to trust his plans.

Juan Carlos flew back to Lima in an air ambulance from MDAnderson on October 11th and was immediately transported to the hospital.  He was very weak and passed away the night of October 26, 2019 peacefully in his sleep at the hospital. Thank you again for your thoughts, prayers, and donations. Tomorrow is Juan Carlos's birthday and we are sure he looking down on all of us.

In March, 2018, Juan Carlos Morgan was diagnosed with tongue cancer. This was quite a surprise as he is a healthy man at just 42 years old and he has always taken very good care of himself and had never smoked, used chewing tobacco, or other associated high-risk behavior.

Juan Carlos is an amazing husband, father and friend. He is the best host, extremely focused, methodical and hard worker man. Always achieving what he set his mind to and has never been one to complain about unexpected adversity.  Juan Carlos and his wife Ana Lucia, my wonderful sister, have two beautiful daughters, Valentina- 13 & Fernanda-9, He is a wonderful father determined to see his daughters grow. Juan Carlos is the youngest of four siblings. He is the little brother for his three older sisters. His mom is alive but his father past away nearly 13 years ago.

In Peru, he receive biotherapy and radiation, which did successfully shrink the tumor, then he underwent surgery and brachytherapy. In December 2018 he was cancer-free. He started to regain his strength and was feeling more like himself and was slowly working in more daily exercise as he started the process to return to work.

in March 2019 he had to undergo an invasive surgery for the necrosis caused by the treatments. Unfortunately, they found out the cancer was back. They remove what they could and they had to give him a tracheotomy to allow him breath and a feeding tube for his nutrition since he is unable to eat. Unfortunately, it is just not possible to surgically remove all of this cancer and the doctors felt they had done all they could for him in Perú. Juan Carlos and family urgently reached out to get a second opinion at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX and was admitted on May 20, 2019. We are very grateful for this opportunity.

Here is why we are filled with hope, and need your help. Juan Carlos is young, his body is strong, and the cancer has not spread. We are so grateful for the fact the doctors have said he can be treated, but this is going to be a very large financial challenge. Juan Carlos and Ana Lucia, whom has had to leave his job to take care of him, need to stay in Houston for his treatment and follow-ups. Insurance will cover only a portion of the chemotherapy, but they said they will not cover immunotherapy since is a kind of new treatment, despite being recommended by his doctors and being already approved by the FDA. He receive his 1st treatment on May 31st and had to paid out of pocket to start the treatment more than $12'000 for a single drug (pegfilgrastim) that insurance won't cover . This drug will be apply every 3 weeks. so far he will receive chemo every 3 weeks and Inmunotheraphy, which its cost is around $30'000 each dosis, is schedule for June 17th also every 3 weeks but Inmunotheraphy is a long time treatment more than a year. We still fighting and waiting in Insurance (Pacífico)  to see if they will cover part of it.  Insurance also won’t cover for his milk (Osmolite) and supplies. Clearly this is all a matter of life and death so his family is doing everything they can to pull the funds together.

Your contribution will help with cost of living and medical expenses. This will help ease some of the stress of the already difficult time in their lives. we are all optimistic about the future. Any donation, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated.

volver a trabajar.
