Joe's Liver Transplant

In 2013, Joe was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a chronic liver disease with no known cause and no cure other than liver transplant. Recently, Joe was approved to receive a Living Donor Liver Transplant at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. In the past few weeks, his health has deteriorated even more and the time for transplant is getting closer.
Thankfully, many kind people have volunteered to be evaluated as potential donors. There are several qualifications to be met and various criteria which will be considered by the transplant team in choosing the best possible donor.
About two years ago, many friends and family members participated in a fundraiser for Joe and his family to help meet their medical expenses and contribute to a post-transplant fund with the Georgia Transplant Foundation. This fund will be available for essential medical needs after transplant, such as anti-rejection medications and insurance premiums. We are grateful to all who donated to that campaign, both online at GoFundMe and by other means.
Joe's medical team expects that his transplant will happen in the next 4-8 weeks. With that in mind, we have started this new fundraising campaign to help Joe and his family afford current insurance co-pays and deductibles, and help with living expenses while Joe is unable to work for 2-3 months before and after transplant. For those of us unable to share part of our liver, let's help financially. Please donate anything you can. Even $5 and $10 donations add up!
