Hi,

My name is Myles Loftin, I am a freelance photographer and a junior at Parson School of Design studying photography. Over the past few years I have been in the process of building my career as a commercial and fine art photographer;   Shooting for i-D, W, Them, Under Armour, etc,  showing work on both coasts and developing my own personal practice in school.

Now, I've reached the next step in my journey. I was recently accepted into the Study Abroad program at UAL: London College of Communication where I will participate in their semester abroad. It is a 6 month program designed to develop further specialist technical skills, with the aim that students explore, develop and expand upon their own ideas. I will be fully immersed in learning from the art and culture of London and the UK.

London has been, and continues to be a major hub for the arts as well as a cultural mixing bowl. It is the birthplace of my favorite magazines i-D, and Dazed, home to museums such as the Tate and has produced some of the best talents like Ib Kamara, Campbell Addy and Nadine Ijwere to name a few. Its a place where some of the best artists, designers and thinkers come together to create groundbreaking, genre bending work.

LCC’s courses focus on the nurturing and development of an independent practice which will help me fine tune my voice and pursue further research into the themes within my work. I’m interested in exploring the narratives of the queer, trans, and black and brown people who are often underrepresented or misrepresented in the world of images. Through honest and intimate portraiture I hope to connect the individuals I photograph with the audience, and give them a sense of who that person is and why they’re important. I'm excited to move to a new country to become a better artist, and to learn more about myself and my work.

Through my work as a freelance photographer and a Resident Advisor at The New School I have been fortunate to able to raise a portion of the funds needed for my semester abroad. But I would greatly appreciate any donations that would help supplement my living expenses so that I can have the most worthwhile experience overseas. If you can please share with friends or loved ones who may also be interested in supporting.

If there are any other ways you'd like to help me in this transitional phase please contact me via email at [email redacted].

Thank You,

Myles Loftin
