As many of you coming to this page may or may not know this past August Maria found out that she has an aggressive form of breast cancer.
The specific diagnosis is “Triple Negative Carcinoma.” While Maria identified the lump in her breast at a small size and early on, she is now come to found out the realization of the battle that she is up against.
Maria’s doctors informed her that she will be at “war” with cancer and with have to fight for her life due to the type of cancer and its extreme growth rate. Most cancers have a growth rate of 10% however the cancer that Maria is struggling with has a growth rate of 60%.
This means that Maria will have to be armed with an aggressive treatment and strategy! Her doctors have a plan – she will begin treatment at a weekly rate for the next 12 weeks.
In August Maria began her initial rounds of chemotherapy which led to her departure from the job that she loves. Maria has always been able to take care of herself. She put herself through school and earned a master’s degree in social work. She took care of Nicholas and saw him through to success of his own.
Now Maria needs us to help take care of her! While Maria has a loving and supportive family that stands by her side in this fight, we all know how debilitating the financial burden of medical expenses can be.
