Joylight Church Fire Recovery Fund
While the edifice has been owned and occupied by us, the JoyLight family, since 1991 the building has seen its share of history since its doors opened in 1952. During this time it was not only the house of worship used by Grants Chapel AME Church, but it also served as a meeting place and haven for African-American groups during the Civil Rights era. Furthermore, the structure itself displays a type of beautiful architecture from a bygone era much different than what is seen or constructed today.
Though it seems that this fire has scorched a part of our hearts that we hold near and dear, we understand that it is always darkest before dawn. We will continue on doing the work of the Lord knowing that brighter days are ahead. It is our hope to make use of your kindest and most generous donations towards the restoration our place of worship and to begin creating new memories. All proceeds will go towards any necessary, architecture-preserving renovations and the purchasing of equipment that was lost during the fire. With your help and with the Lord God as our guide we can reestablish the building that has served our community in so many positive ways. Help us continue making a positive impact on the community through outreach. The JoyLight family would be most appreciative of your gift!!
I haven't been able to connect this thing with Facebook yet, but if you all have a chance, be sure to share this with all of your Facebook/Twitter friends.
Thank you all for you support!
I wanted to post an update here to, number one, express our deepest, heartfelt gratitude. The overarching theme that has developed since all of this happened has been love, support and togetherness. The love and support has come from you all and we definitely feel it! The togetherness has developed from within and out, bringing us closer together as a church family while bringing us closer to a wonderful community that we have the privilege of being a part of.
The other reason I wanted to update was to acknowledge a few individuals/groups of people that have contributed to the fund outside of "go fund me". Those are the following:
1.) Chester and Donna Wright--$1000.00
2.)Mother Vanzant $500.00
3.) Pastor Eddie McCall and New Covenant Worship Center $350.00
We were also blessed to have the privilege to worship with Faith Temple COGIC on Sunday where they were also so kind to donate to our fund and lend us their church.
I know other things are in the works for a later date and I will be coming back on here to post more thank yous, but for now--to everyone that has contributed donations, prayers and support--I want to say from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!!!!
With much love,
The JoyLight Family.
I'm working towards thanking you all individually, but I wanted to come in and post some of the pictures. I'm also working on reconnecting this page to JoyLight's FB page. Stay tuned for that.
Thank you again for your generosity and your prayers. We need all the help we can get. But it's so wonderful to know that we live in such a warm and loving community with all of the support you all have shown us. It certainly doesn't go unnoticed!
Thanks to you all,
--The JoyLight Family
I will be posting some photos of the damage from the inside within the next day. While it looks bleak, the Lord has been making provisions for us and thanks to the community-at-large we definitely feel the love.
Please continue to pray for us as we continue to navigate through uncharted waters.
